What is the difference between a dedicated server and a VPS?
A VPS is created by splitting a physical server through virtualization, and the processor is shared with other virtual servers on the same machine. That's why CPU usage on a VPS is subject to our Fair Use Policy and average usage is expected to stay within limits.
On a dedicated server, all of the hardware is yours. You can run the processor at 100% capacity all the time and you do not share disks or network with other users. A dedicated server is the better choice for projects with high, constant CPU usage, large game server networks or anyone who wants to build their own virtualization platform.
